Future Net Zero

Paving the way to a greener future with Net Zero certification

West Country Drainage Services is on a journey to become greener for our environment. To us, it is fundamentally important that we all take action now—not just for ourselves, but for our children and future generations.

Being Future Net Zero Standard Benchmark Certified is a meaningful milestone for us, as it represents our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices. This certification demonstrates that we are actively measuring, reducing, and managing our carbon footprint to align with industry-wide Net Zero goals. By implementing energy-efficient practices, reducing emissions, and optimising resources, we’re not only enhancing our operational efficiency but also supporting the broader transition toward a low-carbon economy.

This certification is a testament to our dedication to future-proofing our services and helping clients enjoy eco-conscious drainage solutions that have a positive, lasting impact on the environment.

So how are we reducing our emissions?

See what one of our Directors, Leanne Jeanes, has to say.

We have reduced emissions by planning our jobs with care and in turn reducing fuel used. We have also reduced our footprint by recycling as much as possible including refurbishing parts

Our clients

The NHS, Somerset Council, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, and the National Trust use us not only because they trust our workmanship and methods but because we care for the planet and have the certification to prove our efforts are genuine.

We also encourage our clients to adopt the same principles, and we will advise them on the best methods for the job and waste disposal. For example, when replacing an old septic tank with a new tank or sewage treatment plant, we often advise that the old tank is better left decommissioned in the ground rather than being removed and sent to landfill.

What can you do to help?

You can help us with our scheduling and appointments. If we offer you our next available slot because we will be in your area that day, we would greatly appreciate any flexibility in accommodating this time. This scheduling not only helps us streamline our work but also contributes significantly to reducing unnecessary travel emissions.
By minimising travel distances between appointments, we’re collectively supporting a more eco-friendly approach and lowering our overall carbon footprint. Of course, we understand that flexibility may not always be possible, and we’re happy to work with you to find a suitable alternative when needed. Thank you for considering this shared commitment to sustainability.
