Do’s and Don’ts For Your New Sewage Treatment Plant
Your treatment plant will require annual empty and service to not only fulfil your legal obligation as an operator but to ensure the smooth operation of the system.
Annual services are also vital to remain in warranty of the system.
DO'S
• Use the most biodegradable products you can find for washing, washing up, toilet cleaning etc.
• Avoid dosing of chemicals, this will damage the good bacteria in the system.
• Spread the usage of washing machines over the week so the system does not become overloaded.
• Try to keep to the same products as the bacteria can learn to live with a product in time.
• Only flush the three p’s Paper, pee and poo down the toilet, remind visitors of this rule.
DON'TS
• Do not flush and non biodegradable products including sanitary towels, nappies, wipes, cotton wool/pads and flushable wipes
• Do not have any of the following entering the system:
– Medicines
– Mouthwash
– Fat/grease Oil
– Garden Chemicals
– DIY products including solvents, paints, glue & white spirit
• DO NOT use bleach this will kill the good bacteria working hard to break down your solids

Normally this indicates and over dose of chemicals killing the good bacteria in the tank, trace back to any products you may have used and replace with biodegradable kinder products. Allow 6-8 weeks for the good bacteria to start up for the smells to dissipate.
Give us a call and we can check the cause of this. It could be an electrical issue or a pump failure (very rare on new installations).
